Our Story
Baking isn't just what we do, it's who we are. Stonemill® Bakehouse began as a 4th generation family business. Gustav Boehringer, master baker and founder of Stonemill® Bakehouse, took over the family artisan bakery business in Germany in the 1960s and built it into a successful business. In 1982, Gustav emigrated to Canada with his family and opened Stonemill® Bakehouse on Main Street in Unionville, Ontario. Today, Stonemill® Bakehouse continues to stay true to the foundations of the original bakery using the European sourdough starter and always naturally fermenting the dough to yield the most flavourful bread.
