We have a real breadth of experience

Stonemill® Bakehouse began as a fourth-generation European family business when Gustav Boehringer took over his family's artisan German bakery in the 1960s. After emigrating to Canada in 1982, Gustav opened Stonemill® Bakehouse on Main Street in Unionville, Ontario. Decades later, we're still crafting bread the way Gustav's family did more than a hundred years ago: using the same European sourdough starter. Why? Because we honour 100-year-old family baking traditions and time-honoured craftsmanship. And because it makes our bread more authentic, flavourful, and wholesome. Making you the best loaf of bread we can is worth the effort.

Most of our breads are made from a unique sourdough starter that's flown in from Germany every month to keep the integrity of our European style bread true to what it's meant to be - delicious flavour and aroma, perfectly springy texture and wholesome goodness in every bite.
